Party general secretary Mangat Ram Pasla delivered the inaugural address.

He said the four-day conference was being held at a time when the “global capitalist crisis which began in 2008 has deepened further”.

Pasla alleged, “Communal-fascist forces under the leadership of Narendra Modi are leaving no stone unturned to destroy the secular and democratic polity of the country and to convert it into a theocratic state. The policies being implemented by the government under the directions of imperialist forces are causing price rise, unemployment and hunger with every passing day.”

He said that RMPI would strive hard to stop the advance of these forces and would oppose the neo-liberal policy of the government by uniting all Left forces.

Prominent writer and chairman of the reception committee of the conference Gulzar Singh Sandhu extended a warm welcome to the delegates. He expressed the hope that this conference would prove to be an epoch-changing event.

Earlier, Communist leader from Kerala KK Rema hoisted the red flag. The conference passed a resolution, paying homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives “opposing the murderous attacks of imperialist forces” and also to rationalists like Narendra Dabholkar, Gobind Pansare, MM Kalburgi and Gauri Lankesh.
