LPU students go on rampage as hosteller held for ‘extortion’
Jalandhar: Lovely Professional University (LPU) students went on the rampage late Sunday evening after the police arrested a hosteller from Jalandhar Cantonment railway station in an alleged extortion case.

The students started protesting as a police team reached the campus near Phagwara to recover a mobile phone from the hosteller’s room, which he had allegedly used in the crime.
The protesters damaged property on the campus and around midnight staged a dharna on National Highway-1 in front of the university gate. Rajinder Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar Commissionerate, confirmed the incident and said talks were on with the students. TNS
