Governor VP Singh Badnore unveiled an 18-ft-high statue of Maharana Pratap at Naya Nangal (Ropar) on Monday in the presence of local MLA and Assembly Speaker Rana KP Singh.

Badnore also paid tributes to Kargil war martyr Amol Kalia on his birth anniversary. The Rajput Welfare Society presented mementos to the Governor and the Speaker. Tribune Photo

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
