Bathinda/Muktsar, April 2
A resident of Lakhewali village in Muktsar district gunned down his wife and mother-in-law before shooting himself dead in Adarsh Nagar area on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Kamaljeet Gabba, his wife Manisha and mother-in-law Kanchan Bala. A case under Sections 302 of the IPC and Sections 25, 27 and 59 of the Arms Act was registered against Kamaljeet on the statement of Rajnish Kumar, Manisha’s brother.
Rajnish said Manisha had married Kamaljeet, a medical store owner, five years ago. He alleged that Kamaljeet’s family started harassing her over dowry, forcing her to return to Muktsar four years ago. Later, Kamaljeet also started living in Muktsar. After two years, he went back to Lakhewali.
Rajnish said Kamaljeet came to his house with a friend on Monday. Later, he sent his friend to Rajnish’s shop. When they returned, they found the gate locked from the inside. On hearing shots, they scaled the wall and entered the house, where they found three bodies. The Muktsar police have started a probe after seizing a pistol and six cartridges from the spot.
