MCI refuses permission to 2 medical, 3 dental colleges in Punjab

The Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) today announced that the Medical Council of India (MCI) has refused to grant the renewal of permission to two medical colleges and three dental colleges of Punjab for the academic year 2015-16.

The decision is likely to affect over 300 MBBS and 200 BDS seats in the state.

The colleges are Punjab Institute of Medical Scienceu (PIMS), Jalandhar; Chintpurni Medical College and Hospital, Pathankot; SKS Sarabha Dental College, Sarabha; Rayat Bahra Dental College, Mohali; and Sri Sukhmani Dental College, Dera Bassi.

For certain deficiencies in Chintpurni Medical College and Hospital and Punjab Institute of Medical Science (PIMS, in February, 2015, the MCI had recommended the Central government not to renew permission to these two colleges.
