After Punjabi singer Mika Singh was banned by the Indian film industry for recently performing in Karachi, the singer posted a video thanking everyone for a warm welcome back in India.

Donning a mustard t-shirt, in the video the singer can be seen waving at the crowd while chanting, “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram”.

The 43-year-old singer shared the video on Twitter, saying: “Bharat Mata ki Jai! Thank you everyone for such a warm welcome. Happy Independence Day once again and salute to our jawans. They aren’t able to celebrate any festival, all to make our lives better. Jai hind...”

Mika had reportedly performed at the wedding of the daughter of former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's cousin.

A letter from AICWA president Suresh Shyamlal Gupta stated: "AICWA bans and boycott singer Mika Singh from the Indian film industry for performing  at a high-profile event at Karachi dated August 8, 2019."

"AICWA takes a tough stand of immediately boycotting all his association with movie production houses, music companies and online music content providers."

The statement further read, "AICWA workers will make sure that no one in India works with Mika Singh, and if anyone does, they will face legal consequences in the court of law."

"When the tension between the countries is at its peak, Mika Singh puts money above the nation's pride," the film association said.

Mika and his crew had been given visa for 30 days to perform in three Pakistani cities—Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
