MLA’s husband, DC injured in accident

Sriganganagar MLA Kamini Jindal’s husband Dr Gagandeep Singla, Barmer District Collector Shiv Prasad Nakate, their driver and security guard were injured when their vehicle skidded into a gorge following a collision with a pickup van on Wednesday at 10.30 pm. Singla, an IPS officer, is serving as SP at Barmer.
They had gone to check the arrangements at Pachpadra where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to lay the foundation stone of a Rs 43,129-crore refinery on January 14.
The staff in the escort vehicle reportedly rescued the officials by breaking the glass panes of the completely damaged vehicle.
Nakate’s arm suffered a fracture and four stitches were made on Singla’s eye. Driver Kaushal Ram and security guard Parkash Panwar were grievously injured. Both have been shifted to Jodhpur government hospital.
Pickup van driver Haneef Khan of Jogasar also sustained injuries. He has been admitted to Nahta Hospital at Barmer.
Zamindara Party MLA Kamini Jindal said she had reached the site within an hour of the mishap.
Thermal plant employee dies
In another accident near Sriganganagar late last night, Suratgarh Thermal Power Plant employee Krishan Kumar (40) of Chak 39GB village died when the car in which they were travelling rammed into a JCB that was parked on the roadside near Raiwala bypass. His wife and brother sustained injuries.
