MLA’s son booked for hitting Sikh boy

The City Police booked son of former SAD MLA Veer Singh Lopoke for thrashing a 16-year-old Sikh boy and hurting the religious sentiments by tearing the boy’s turban here yesterday. The incident took place at Adarsh Nagar on Ram Tirath Road on December 2, when accused Ranbir Singh Rana, his driver Ranbir Singh and some others thrashed the victim, Jaideep Singh.
As per the information, Jaideep was parking his car when he bumped into the vehicle of the accused, leading to a clash.
Father of the victim, Harjinder Singh, said on December 2 around 6 pm he was at his under-construction house in Adarsh Nagar. After hearing a noise, he came out and found that all accused, led by Rana, were abusing and beating his son. When he tried to rescue his son, the accused thrashed him also. They tore his son’s turban and held him from his hair, leaving Jaideep injured.
On the complaint of Harjinder Singh, Cantonment police station have registered a case. Rana claims they have reached a compromise. — TNS
