Former Cong MP dead

Veteran Congress leader and former Rajya Sabha MP Mohinder Singh Kalyan died this morning after a brief illness.
Kalyan served as a parliamentarian from 1992 to 1998. He also headed the Scheduled Caste (SC) cell of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC).
The party leaders who attended his cremation included local MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, former minister Malkit Singh Dakha, Gill MLA Kuldeep Singh Vaid, District Congress Committee (DCC urban) president Gurpreet Gogi, DCC (rural) president Gurdev Singh Lapran and PPCC general secretaries KK Bawa and Amarjit Singh Tikka.
Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh expressed grief over Kalyan’s demise. In his condolence message, the Chief Minister extended his sympathies to the bereaved family. He described Kalyan as a disciplined and committed soldier of the party, besides being a true votary of the downtrodden and oppressed sections of society.
