2012-batch PCS officer shifted thrice in 5 days

The large-scale administrative reshuffle in the state as part of the preparations for parliamentary elections has virtually made a number of officers ‘rolling stones’, which is being termed as an alleged fallout of political interference.

Rajpal Singh, a 2012-batch PCS officer, has been transferred thrice in just five days. Rajpal, who belongs to Muktsar, was posted as SDM, Muktsar, in June 2017. He was transferred as Jalalabad SDM on February 16. However, before he could join there, the state government transferred him as Bagha Purana SDM on February 19. He assumed the charge there on February 20, but transferred again on the same evening as Maur SDM.

Swaranjeet Kaur, a 2016-batch PCS officer posted as Bagha Purana SDM, was transferred to Muktsar on February 16, assumed the charge here on February 20, but again transferred to Bagha Purana the same evening.

Keshav Goyal, a 2016-batch PCS officer, posted as Jalalabad SDM, was transferred to Bagha Purana on February 16, but again transferred back to Jalalabad on February 19.

Randeep Singh Heer, a 2016-batch PCS officer, posted as Assistant Commissioner (General) Hoshiarpur, was transferred as Maur SDM on February 19, but again transferred to Muktsar on February 20.

Tarsem Chand, a 2018-batch PCS officer, posted as Assistant Commissioner (Grievances) SBS Nagar, was transferred as Maur SDM on February 16, but again transferred as Deputy Secretary (Finance) on February 19.

Manjit Singh Cheema, a 2014-batch PCS officer posted as Land Acquisition Collector, Patiala, was transferred as Bhawanigarh SDM on February 16, but again transferred as Joint Commissioner, MC, Ludhiana, on February 20.

Sumit Mudh, a 2016-batch PCS officer posted as Phagwara SDM, was transferred as Phillaur SDM on February 16, but again transferred as Joint Commissioner, MC, Ludhiana, on February 20. Hardeep Singh, a 2014-batch PCS officer posted as Secretary, RTA, Faridkot, was transferred as Jaito SDM, in addition Secretary, Regional Transport Authority, Faridkot, on February 16, but again transferred as Assistant Commissioner (Faridkot), in addition Secretary, Regional Transport Authority, Faridkot, on February 19.

Ram Singh, a 2014-batch PCS officer posted as Jagraon SDM, was transferred as Deputy Secretary, Industries and Commerce, on February 16, but again transferred as SDM, Jaito, on February 19.

On frequent transfers, a PCS officer said, “The transfers are part of our job, but some of us are not willing to leave their old place of posting using their political connections. It has led to utter chaos in the bureaucracy as well as public.”
