5 cops attached to RTOs transferred
Chandigarh, June 20
In a major step aimed at ending the long period of postings of Punjab Police drivers, who were attached to the Regional Transport Offices (RTOs), Razia Sultana, state Transport Minister, today transferred five drivers to minister’s car section.
The police drivers were on deputation to the RTOs for enforcement duties.
But after the CBI arrested an ASI of the Punjab Police, who was attached to the Assistant Transport Officer in the Chandigarh office of the Punjab Transport Department, the minister decided to transfer all such policemen who were deputed with the transport authority in the state.
In today’s orders, the police drivers attached with the RTOs at Bathinda, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Amritsar and Faridkot have been transferred. — TNS
