A nine-year-old daughter of Neetu Shuttran Wala, who shot into fame in the recent Lok Sabha polls, died on Monday as she fell off the auto when it hit a manhole cover.
Sakshi, the deceased, was studying in Class IV and was going back home from school.
Neetu Shuttran Wala had unsuccessfully contested the Lok Sabha elections in May and had cried outside the counting centre for not getting enough votes.
The police said the girl was brought dead to the hospital and the incident happened opposite Devi Talab Mandir.
Surinder Singh, the Investigating Officer (IO) in the case, said that the auto-rickshaw was hit by the manhole cover, after which Sakshi who was sitting on the right side of the auto fell off and a passing car hit her.
The incident was captured on CCTV, in which the girl is seen falling off the auto and getting hit by the car.
Neetu while talking to the media persons said that the auto-rickshaw drivers were the most reckless drivers. “They do not think that parents wait for their kids back home, and for the drivers, life is cheap,” he said while crying.
“I got a call from the school principal at around 2.30 pm that Sakshi has got injured. My child’s head was completely crushed when I saw her,” an inconsolable Neetu said adding that he had sent his daughter to the school and had never ever imagined that she would never come back.
Meanwhile, the police said a case will be registered after taking the statement of the parents.
