The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) — a student wing of the Congress — has started appointing students as presidents and vice-presidents of schools.

Narinder Kaoni, PPCC general secretary, through one of his close aides Pinder Kaoni recently announced the names of president and vice-president of the NSUI’s school wing in Muktsar. These boys, studying in Class XII, have got publicity material printed along with the photos of some politicians, including AICC president Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, former IYC chief Amrinder Singh ‘Raja Warring’ and some local leaders.

Aman Dhaliwal, a student of Class XII and president of all schools in Muktsar, said, “Pinder Brar, a close aide of Narinder Kaoni had come to the Mukte Minar complex on Monday. He appointed me as the president and Mewa Brar as the vice-president of all schools in Muktsar. We will serve the students and stop them from fighting. My father is working abroad and we don’t have a political background. I was, however, known to Narinder Kaoni through someone.”

Ramandeep, president, NSUI, Muktsar, said, “These students have been appointed as president and vice-president of Muktsar, but the teams of other towns are yet to be announced. These students will inform us if they face any kind of problem. The schools wing has been announced to work for the welfare of students.”

Pinder Kaoni said, “I don’t think there is anything wrong in appointing office-bearers of the schools wing of the NSUI. These students have just started publicity campaign on social media and yet to put up posters on walls in the town.”
