Being more handy and quick than the website, the new passport seva mobile app launched recently by the Ministry of External Affairs recently has already registered 1 million downloads.
Consuming just about 4.5 MB space on the phone, the app helps the user in locating the centres, calculating fee and even tracking the status of application and delivery of the passport. The main menu has 10 buttons: Existing user login, new user register, status tracker, appointment availability, document adviser, fee calculator, locate centre, annexes/affidavits, FAQs and contact us.
Those who have used both website and the mobile app say the steps for any work, including filing fresh of application or renewal using both methods are almost the same, but a little easier on phone.
