Alleging harassment through frivolous complaints, Dr Jagmohan Singh, posted at the Civil Hospital here, has resigned from government service. He is the third doctor from the district to quit in the past month. Dr Jagmohan today sent his resignation with three months’ salary to the Senior Medical Officer (SMO).

“Government doctors have become soft targets. People are lodging false complaints against us,” he said.

Dr Gaurav Kumar from the Dhuri hospital had resigned last month, citing stress. A doctor from Malerkotla sent his resignation two days ago to Civil Surgeon Dr Kiranjot Bali.

SMO Dr Kirpal Singh said, “Now, we have just one MD (medicine) doctor at the Civil Hospital.”
