Sarna trying to harm celebrations: Sirsa

Jalandhar, July 23
Even though SAD (Delhi) chief Paramjit Singh Sarna has been claiming that he has already sought permission from the Pakistani government for taking out nagar kirtan to Nankana Sahib ahead of the 550th Parkash Purav of Guru Nanak, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) chief Manjinder Singh Sirsa today alleged that the former had not even applied for the permission.
Sirsa said that there was a set procedure to be followed for seeking permission to take out jatha to another country. “Permissions have to be sought from the Ministries of Home Affairs, Finance and External Affairs. Also as per the bilateral treaty of 1974 between India and Pakistan, only the elected apex religious bodies can take jathas. This has been done to ensure multiplicity of such events or else every political party or group will start taking religious processions to Pakistan,” he said asking Sarna to show any permission copy, if he has.
Sirsa advised Sarna not to “mislead” the Sikh sangat. “We do not want him to malign the community, create confusions or hamper the celebrations. Both Sarna and Manjit Singh GK are opportunist,” he alleged.
