School bus impounded, another challaned

Hoshiarpur, May 18

District Transport Officer (DTO) Jiwan Jagjot Kaur impounded a school bus as it was in a bad shape grossly violating the safety norms. Another school bus was challaned for overloading and having no attendant in the bus.

During a checking, a bus of Navjot Public School, Bachhohi village, was found to be in bad condition. Having a Himachal number plate, the bus had no speed governor in it. Also there was no CCTV camera, first-aid boxes or fire extinguishers. Even the bus driver did not have a driving licence. The DTO said keeping all the rules in view, the bus was impounded.

Jiwan Jagjot Kaur said similarly during the checking a bus of St Soldier School, Chabbewal, was found to be overloaded and no attendant was present in the bus to handle the children. The bus was challaned and the school administration was instructed to strictly enforce school vehicle safety regulations. — OC
