Cracking the whip on dummy admissions in Classes XI and XII in government and private schools, Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has warned schools to check this malpractice or face the music.
“In case fake admissions were found in any school, legal action will be initiated for violating our affiliation regulations and any penal action would be the sole responsibility of the errant school,” reads a letter of Secretary, PSEB to heads of affiliated schools.
Dummy admissions involves enrolling students particularly in medical and non-medical streams who actually spend their time preparing for competitive exams in coaching centres in Delhi, Chandigarh, Bathinda and Kota (Rajasthan).
Schools must ensure regular attendance of all enrolled students or face action as the state is witnessing a sharp increase in such admissions, reads the letter. It is mandatory to secure 75 per cent attendance to qualify for appearing in exams conducted by the board, the sources added. — TNS
