The SGPC has objected to the installation of a statue of Guru Nanak Dev that was installed at an intersection in Bhawanghar, Gujarat.
After getting complaints, SGPC chief secretary Dr Roop Singh said a delegation would be sent to Gujarat to investigate. He urged Sikh organisations to be vigilant of such practices.
“It’s a serious lapse as idol worshipping is prohibited in Sikh culture and ethics. It is an attempt to tarnish the Sikh history, principles and traditions which cannot be tolerated. The SGPC will certainly take action as per Sikh maryada,” he said.
