Dhuri (Sangrur), March 28

Bikram Dhanaula, who hurled a shoe at Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at a conference in Khanna, last year, has chosen ‘chapplan’ (footwear) as his election symbol for Dhuri assembly by-election.

In the nomination papers, he had opted for ‘torch’ as his second preference and ‘scissors’ third.

Bikram denied there was any link between his election symbol and the shoe-hurling incident. He said he had chosen ‘chapplan’ as it was a symbol of people’s anger. He said the people were against the SAD-BJP alliance as well as the Congress as both looted the people.

Bikram said he would approach the voters of the Dhuri constituency to end dynastic politics.
