SIT may quiz ex-Jathedar

Former Jathedar of Akal Takht Giani Gurbachan Singh may be asked to join the investigation being conducted by the Special investigation Team (SIT) into the police firing on mobs protesting the 2015 incidents of desecration of Guru Granth Sahib in Punjab.

However, IGP Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, who is the key member of the SIT, said as of now there was no immediate requirement of questioning Giani Gurbachan Singh, but he could be approached at any later stage of investigation. He stated that all due respect and sanctity of the position he held would be taken into consideration if necessity arise to inquire from him.

Giani Gurbachan Singh had issued a statement that he would not go to anybody for clarification, but certainly would welcome the SIT members at his place if they wanted to procure any information.
