An experienced snake catcher from here died after he was bit by a venomous snake at Nashik in Maharashtra on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Vikram Singh aka Vikram Malout. He was 31.

Vikram was a ‘vaid’ (medical practitioner) at Anandpur Sahib in Rupnagar. He learnt the knack of catching snakes from his father, Gurbachan Singh, who is famous as Baba Gurbachan Singh Sappanwala.

Vikram used to catch snakes and other reptiles with bare hands. He also streamed live videos on his social media accounts.

While talking to The Tribune from Nashik, Gurbachan said, “Few days ago, we met with a road accident at Nanded in which our car got damaged. Thereafter, Vikram and his friends went to Nashik to get back the car. But his friends took him to rescue a snake from a residence. While he was releasing the python in Dongar forest near Nashik, it bit him on thumb, leaving him dead.”
