State Bahujan Mukti Party chief joins BSP

In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP)has initiated a move to bring Dalits under the party’s banner to strengthen the Dalit base.
Khushi Ram, a retired IAS officer and founder president of the state Bahujan Mukti Party (BMP); chairperson, Forum for the Weaker Sections (regd), Punjab; and chairperson, Dr BR Ambedkar Gazzetted and Non-Gazzetted Scheduled Caste Employees, Civil Secretariat, Punjab; joined the Bahujan Samaj Party along with Gurmail Sandhu, vice-president and secretary general of the state BMP; Som Nath, Nawanshahar general secretary, BMP; Jaspal Singh Pali, Barnala state general secretary of the BMP; Amarjit Singh, district president, BMP, Mansa unit; and Laxmi Narain, vice-president, BMP, Bathinda.
Khushi Ram asked the Bahujan “moolnivasis” to be united under BSP supremo Mayawati to thwart the challenge of anti-constitution and anti-social elements working in the country. He said it could only be possible if Dalits were united and struggled in unison to form the government headed by Mayawati.
