A 24-year-old girl pursuing architecture at the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), Bhaddal, was today found dead in her hostel room. The deceased has been identified Ritika Malik of Haridwar.
Her father Raj Kumar Malik, a retired schoolteacher, said Ritika had been complaining of stomachache for the past few days. Last evening, she told him that she would be returning home today, Malik said , adding that he had left Haridwar in morning to take his daughter home.
Surprisingly, the institute failed to provide proper treatment to the girl suffering from pain in the stomach. She was taken to a medico at nearby Mianpur village only yesterday.
According to the police, the college management told them that Ritika used to go to her class along with Rekha, a teacher, who stays on the campus. Today morning, when Ritika did not respond to Rekha’s calls, the latter reached her room. But when no reply was received, the door was broken and Ritika was found lying on the bed.
