VB teams collect food samples

In a bid to curb adulteration in sweets and food products, the Vigilance Bureau on Monday conducted checking along with district health and food safety officials at sweetmeat shops across the state and collected samples of food items.

Stating this here, VB Chief Director-cum-ADGP BK Uppal said the teams collected samples of khoya, chamcham, kalakand, gulab jamun, burfi, laddoos, patisa and paneer. He added that the samples would be sent for testing to the state food testing laboratory. Stern action would be taken against those found guilty under the food safety law, Uppal added.

He said the Vigilance Bureau staff was working to end unethical practices at sweetmeat shops during the festival season.
