Ludhiana, June 2
Judicial Magistrate Vishav Gupta has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Bollywood actor Rakhi Sawant for making derogatory remarks against sage Valmiki.
She has been summoned on July 7.
This is the second arrest warrant against Sawant in two months. In April, a warrant was issued after the actor failed to show up in a local court on March 9.
She has been summoned to face trial on the complaint of a local lawyer, who is a follower of Bhagwan Valmiki.
The complainant claimed that on July 9, 2016, Sawant made offensive remarks against the sage on a television show.
Sawant, during the TV show, had drawn a comparison between the Bhagwan Valmiki and singer Mika Singh regarding their behavioural transformation from evil to good, which invited a backlash from the Valmiki community.
