The DC said the districts were given ranking in three categories, which was based on 60 per cent score for the implementation of government schemes in this regard and 20 per cent each score for special interventions areas and people’s participation. He said in these categories, Fazilka clinched 10.95 score, while the first-positioned Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh got 17.65 score and Punjab’s another district Sangrur got the 13th position with 10.19 score.

He exhorted people of the district to participate whole-heartedly to save the earth and environment. “The ranking will further strengthen our initiatives to protect the environment and underground water,” said the DC.
