Ropar, November 21
After withdrawing his resignation, rebel AAP MLA from Ropar Amarjit Singh Sandoa, who had joined the Congress in May ahead of the parliamentary elections, is yet to decide over his party affiliation. He said he would take a call it within a couple of days.
Sandoa, a taxi operator at Delhi who was elected MLA on AAP ticket from Ropar, had defected to the Congress on May 4 in the run-up to the LS poll. Following this, he tendered his resignation from the post which was under consideration of Speaker Rana KP Singh, before he withdrew it a few days ago.
He denied having any resentment against the ruling party and said he withdrew the resignation in the interest of the state and people of his constituency.
“I didn’t want that the state, which is already facing a financial crunch, to see a bypoll. I will request the CM to instead spend the money on the development of Ropar.”
When asked whether he would stay in the Congress after the resignation, he said it would be revealed in the next one or two days. — TNS
