Woman hurt as cop’s gun goes off

Pathankot: A woman tourist from UP sustained a bullet injury when the gun of a Punjab Police cop went off accidentally at Malikpur Chowk on Tuesday. Sona (40) of Lakhimpur in UP sustained a leg injury and was rushed to a nearby hospital. The woman and brothers Ganju and Mohamad Jubair were on their way to Chandigarh from Srinagar. Pathankot SSP Vivek Sheel Soni visited the woman at the hospital. Her condition is said to be stable. The cop, identified as Bhupinder Singh, fired accidentally. A case would be registered after an inquiry, the SSP said. TNS
