Rivals attack father, son in hospital
Jind, October 29
Panic gripped patients, doctors and paramedical staff of government civil hospital here today when a group of villagers from Nagura attacked a father son duo who were undergoing treatment in the emergency ward.
Lack of security could have made things worse had some locals not intervened and stopped the two parties.
Sources said two groups of farmers led by Kaptan singh and Kuldeep Singh first clashed in Nagura village over sharing of canal water for their land. After suffering injuries, Kaptan along with his father Shamsher, reached the civil hospital for treatment and lodged a complaint.
As they were being treated, the rival group led by Kuldeep again attacked both of them inside the emergency ward. The commotion continued for around 10 minutes as the attackers thrashed an injured Kaptan and his father.
Though no doctor or paramedical staff suffered any injury as they all ran out, but the clash has raised doubts over the security arrangements in hospital premises.
“It’s a serious issue as doctors and staff could have also suffered injuries had they not fled away. We have decided to take up issue of security with senior police officers,” said Dr Rajesh Bhola, joint secretary, Haryana Civil Medical Services Association, Jind. —TNS
