Former FIFA World Player of the Year Ronaldinho will visit India on Friday and explore his future with Premier Futsal. The World Cup-winning Brazilian football great will be in Mumbai where he will make an announcement regarding Premier Futsal. Ronaldinho was forced to quit Premier Futsal last year after just two matches. Ronaldinho said, “My association with Premier Futsal has been a fruitful one. It was a great experience to be in India and play in front of local crowds last year and I look forward to another warm welcome from this sports loving country.”

Chandimal, Tharanga to lead Sri Lanka

The sudden resignation of Angelo Mathews has prompted Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to appoint Dinesh Chandimal as the national team’s Test captain while veteran Upul Tharanga was handed over the reins of the side in the shorter formats. “Dinesh Chandimal has been appointed captain of the Test team while Upul Tharanga has been appointed captain of the ODI and T20 formats,” the board said in a statement. The new captains will kickstart their leadership stints in the full home series against India, starting July 26. — Agencies
