The Governors of Punjab and Haryana and Gujarat today launched a special scholarship scheme for tribal students. The scholarship scheme is supported by the Aryans Group of Colleges, Chandigarh.

The scholarship was launched during the Aryans national seminar on “Empowering Youth of Tribal States in India” held at the PHD Chamber, Sector 31, Chandigarh, today.

Kaptan Singh Solanki, UT Administrator-cum-Governor of Punjab and Haryana, was the chief guest, while OP Kohli, Governor, Gujarat, and Madan Mohan Mittal, Technical Education Minister, Punjab, were the guests of honour on the occasion.

Dr Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges, Chandigarh presided over the event.

Under the scheme, 100 meritorious students will be selected from the tribal areas. Thirty-five per cent of the scholarship will be paid by the Aryans Group, other 50 per cent part will be paid by the state government and the remaining 15 per cent part will be borne by the students. A toll-free scholarship helpline (1800-30000-388) was also launched for tribal students.
