World’s ‘cheapest‘ smartphone priced at Rs 99

The world’s “cheapest” handset, Namotel Acche Din, is all set to hit the market. Bookings for the 3-G enabled phone — which is priced at Rs 99 — will open on May 17 until May 25 on the company's website, namotel.com.
Reddy claims Namotel as being the world’s cheapest phone that operates on a Android 5.1 Lollipop and is powered by 1.3GHz quadcore processor with 1 GB RAM. The phone has a 4-inch display.
The website of the company, Namotel.com, claims the price of the phones have been slashed from Rs 2,999 to Rs 99. The company has also made cash on delivery option available for payment.
The message that is being displayed by the company says: ‘Joy and freedom represents the logo! The same joy will flourish in billion Indians In the form of smart Connect with (3 different looks and shapes) Android Smart powerful Phone at 99. We make this product to show love for India it is ‘Make in India’ Initiative”.
The handset is available only in India. The company however demands Aadhaar card as proof of identity. — Agencies
