Second ‘man-eater’ panther caught in Sariska Tiger Reserve

Jaipur, February 21 

Special Tiger Protection Force and wildlife rangers caught a second suspected man-eater panther from Silibawavri area of Sariska Tiger Reserve in Alwar district in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The first panther, which was caught on February 18, has been sent to Jaipur Zoo for rehabilitation and examination of saliva to verify its activities, Alwar Collector Muktanand Agrawal told The Tribune. 

About 250 personnel of the forest department and 30 armed rangers of the Special Tiger Protection Force were deployed for the last two weeks to catch the panthers that have mauled four persons, including three women, to death from February 5 to 12.

The second panther was also moved in a cage to Jaipur Zoo this afternoon.
