Tehri Hydroelectric Development Corporation India Limited (THDC) observed its 28th foundation day today.
Chief Managing Director RST Sai, along with DV Singh, Director (Technical), and SK Biswas, Director (Personnel), inaugurated the function at the corporate office in Rishikesh by lighting the traditional lamp.
Sai addressed members of THDCIL and guests and also hoisted the THDCIL flag on the occasion.
On this occasion, THDCIL awarded its employees under the award and reward scheme. A series of activities, such as painting competition, inter-unit volleyball tournament, voluntary blood donation camp and run for cleanliness, were organised as part of the foundation day celebrations. The winners of these competitions were also awarded. Performers of the Sri Sai Kala Mandir, Dehradun, presented a cultural programme.
THDC India Limited, earlier known as Tehri Hydro Development Corporation Limited, was formed on July 12, 1988, as a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of UP. THDCIL successfully commissioned Tehri HPP (1000 MW) in 2006-07 and Koteshwar HEP (400 MW) in 2011-12.
THDCIL is one of the premier hydropower generators in the country with installed capacity of 1,400 MW with commissioning of the Tehri and Koteshwar dams to its credit and is bestowed with the Mini Ratna Category-I status.
