Common people at the Head Post Office in Patiala were at the receiving end today after the server at the post office was down for the third continuous day.
The cash deposit and withdraw system of the post office was hit on Thursday morning due to the software upgrade. However, officials claim that few transactions took place on Saturday. The entire banking system of the office is being affected by the nonfunctioning of the portal. The system of the post office is being run and maintained by the IT giant Infosys.
“The server here is linked with the one in Mysore. We have informed the system head about the problem,” an employee said. Another employee said the server in the post office often slowed down which affected work.
According to officials, around 300 people make transactions through the banking system of Head Post office, Patiala.
Many people, most of whom are senior citizens, said several attempts at transactions have proved futile leaving them frustrated.
Several visitors, particularly those visiting the post office for transactions related to small saving schemes such as Kisan Vikas Patra and National Savings Certificate, had to return dejected.
A woman visitor said: “We have been waiting here for the past two- days, but the server is down. I just hope the work gets done today.”
Ujaggar Singh, an official, Patiala Head Post Office said,” We worked on Saturday. The server was down only for two days. It was due to some technical error.”
