West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to prove that she took money selling her paintings.

Her reaction came a day after BJP president Amit Shah claimed in a rally at Kanthi that selling her works to shady chit fund owners for crore of rupees amounted to the CM receiving illegal gratification from them.

At a rally in Birbhum, the TMC supremo called the BJP leaders “uncivil” and said her party would soon file a defamation suit against Shah.

“Modi ‘Babu’... prove that I have taken a single penny for selling my paintings. They (BJP) talk like uncivil people,” she said. — TNS
