Srinagar: Barely a week after the party’s debacle in the parliamentary elections, the state Congress suffered another jolt with the resignation of its Baramulla district president. District president, Baramulla, Shoaib Lone resigned a day after the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief Ghulam Ahmad Mir held a meeting of party leaders and district presidents of the Kashmir valley here to discuss the Lok Sabha elections. Party sources confirmed that Lone had sent his resignation to the JKPCC chief. Lone, however, continues to be the party member, Congress sources said. At the Monday meeting, the party had decided to hold an executive committee meeting after Eid-ul-Fitr next month to discuss the organisational matters. The meeting will also discuss the reorganisation of the state party unit in view of its performance in the recent elections. TNS
