In an embarrassing incident, the BCCI today barred 22 cricketers of Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) from taking part in the age-group tournaments as there are allegations of age-fudging against them. What is more embarrassing is the fact that the names include Nitish Rana and Pratyush Singh — the two players who have already played for senior Delhi team in limited overs. Rana, in fact, is also a part of the current Delhi Ranji team, which is in Jaipur for the opening game against Rajasthan. The DDCA today received an e-mail from Professor Ratnakar Shetty, who is the BCCI's Game Development Manager, that 22 of its players are barred from taking part in the age-group tournaments on the allegations of age-fudging.

CT: WI fail to qualify, Bangladesh make cut

In what can be termed as the lowest ebb in their cricket history, West Indies have failed to qualify for the 2017 Champions Trophy in England as they were not among the top eight ODI teams as per ICC rankings on September 30, 2015, paving the way for Bangladesh's entry. It will be the first time since its inception year in 1998 (when Champions Trophy used to be known as Mini World Cup) that the assortment of Caribbean nations will not be a part of a premier event. Bangladesh will return to the Champions Trophy for the first time since 2006 after the eight sides were confirmed for the 2017 tournament, which will be hosted by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) from June 1 to 18.

Suspended head coach Phil Simmons will know his fate within the next week after he meets with a West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) human resource panel to discuss his controversial comments. WICB chief executive Michael Muirhead said on Tuesday the 52-year-old Trinidadian has been called to answer "breaches of confidentiality and bringing West Indies Cricket Board into disrepute," reports CMC. Simmons told media in Barbados last Friday the selection process regarding the one-day team had been influenced by "interference from outside".
