The 44th edition of G. S. Bains Liberals All India hockey tournament, Nabha began at the hockey grounds in Government Ripudaman College Stadium here today.

In the opening match SGPC Amritsar defeatedChandigarh XI 2-1. SGPC’s Pushpinderpal Singh scored in the 44th minute. The Chandigarh boys equalised in the 48th minute through Lovepreet Singh. However, SGPC’s Gurwinder Singh scored the winner in the 54th minute. In the second match, PHL Red Ludhiana knocked out Hockey Patiala 2-1. — TNS
