South Africa captain Faf du Plessis has been charged with ball tampering, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said on Friday. Du Plessis was charged after television footage appeared to show him applying an artificial substance to the ball during the fourth day's play in the second test against Australia in Hobart. “Du Plessis has pleaded not guilty to the charge ... Details of the hearing will be announced in due course,” the ICC said .

Grandhomme makes grand debut, Kiwis take charge  

Late bloomer Colin de Grandhomme celebrated his first international call-up with record New Zealand debut bowling figures of 6/41 as Pakistan crumbled in their first innings of the opening cricket Test here today. After the 30-year-old de Grandhomme engineered Pakistan's collapse to be all out for 133 at Hagley Oval, New Zealand's other debutant Jeet Raval put them in a strong position to be 104-3 in reply at stumps.

Lahiri shoots four-under 68 

in first round  

Anirban Lahiri shot a four-under 68 to finish tied 41st after round one at the RSM Classic golf tournament at Sea Island. Lahiri turned in one under before he shot four-birdies between the second and eighth holes on the second nine. A bogey on the closing ninth, however, spoiled it for him.
