In what could be a first for an Indian track and field athlete, junior world record holder javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra was today named as brand ambassador by sports drinks giant Gatorade until 2021. Commenting on the association, Neeraj said, “I am honoured to join the Gatorade family of athletes, which consists of sporting legends from across the world.” Neeraj burst on the scene when his gold medal effort in the 2016 IAAF World U-20 Championships saw him set the world junior record with a massive throw of 86.48m in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

Ganguly writing book on mind games

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly is penning a book on mind games in sport even though he considers authoring books a nightmare. “To sit and write, dictate someone, then correct it and make sure it’s on time with the publisher, it’s a nightmare,” said Ganguly. “I was chased for a long time but I’m not a great writer. I’ve been asked to write a book on mind games in sport.”
