Giorgi stuns defending champion Wozniacki

Italian Camila Giorgi once again frustrated Caroline Wozniacki on a hardcourt as she beat the defending champion 6-2 2-6 6-4 to reach the quarterfinals of the Pan Pacific Open on Thursday.
Giorgi has now beaten the Australian Open champion in each of their three hardcourt meetings and will next face former world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka for a place in the last-4. Belarusian wildcard Azarenka eased past seventh seed Ashleigh Barty 6-4 6-2.
Eighth seed Barbora Strycova fought off Anett Kontaveit 7-5(5) 3-6 7-5 and will next face US Open champion Naomi Osaka. Unseeded Donna Vekic beat Johanna Konta 6-3 7-5. — Reuters
Laver Cup: Djokovic teams up with Federer
Chicago: The second instalment of the Laver Cup comes at just the right time for Novak Djokovic who is back in top form after winning the US Open. Djokovic is making his debut in the three-day team event. The tournament begins on Friday. Roger Federer, Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Grigor Dimitrov, David Goffin and Kyle Edmund will play for Team Europe.
