The Kerala High Court issued notice to BCCI on a plea filed by tainted Indian cricketer S Sreesanth, challenging the life ban imposed on him by the disciplinary committee of the cricket body. Admitting the petition by the player, seeking a direction to BCCI to allow him to play for a Scottish club in April, Justice PV Asha directed the Union government and the BCCI to file their counter affidavits. Sreesanth had submitted that even the trial court which heard the match-fixing case observed that “no prima facie case in any offence, including Section 3 of MCOCA, is made out against the accused persons and they are entitled to be discharged.”

Hockey eves beat Belarus 2-1 in five-match Test series
The Indian eves continued their fine run in the ongoing five-match Test series, scoring a 2-1 victory over Belarus in the second match. India got off to a good start with a penalty corner conversion in the ninth minute by striker Rani. However, Belarus equalised in the 36th minute when Sviatlana Bahushevich struck a fine field goal. The Indian eves scored again in the 60th minute with a penalty corner conversion through Lalremsiami. India are now 2-0 up in the Test series.

Shuttler K Srikanth played out of his skin before going down fighting to Chen Long of China (19-21 20-22) in the pre-quarterfinals, drawing curtains on India's campaign at the German Open Grand Prix Gold.
