Manish Kaushik (60kg) was among the three Indian boxers who advanced to the semifinals of the Makran Cup in Chabahar, Iran. Kaushik defeated Salar Moumivand 5-0 in his quarterfinal bout. Also making the semis were, Duryodhan Singh Negi (69kg) and Rohit Tokas (64kg). The total number of Indians in the medal rounds stands at eight after Satish Kumar (+91kg), Manjeet Singh Panghal (75kg), Sanjeet (91kg), Lalit Prasad (52kg) and Deepak (49kg) made the semis. Negi pulled off the most dominating win when his rival, Kamyab Moradi, threw in the towel in the second round. Tokas defeated Turkmenistan’s Tugruibag 5-0. Manish Panwar (81kg) lost to Keivan Safari 0-5 in his quarterfinal bout.

Real Kashmir’s home game against EB shifted to Delhi
Real Kashmir FC’s upcoming home I-League fixture against East Bengal was shifted to New Delhi in view of the prevailing “uncertainty” in Srinagar. The All India Football Federation’s League Committee also referred the matter of Minerva Punjab FC’s boycott of their I-League game in Srinagar, owing to the Pulwama terror attack, to the AIFF’s Executive Committee. The date of Real’s match against East Bengal has not been changed and will take place on Feb 28.

Saurav in pre-quarters, Joshna exits World C’ship
Saurav Ghosal entered the men’s pre-quarterfinals even as compatriot Joshna Chinappa crashed out of the women’s event of the ongoing World Squash Championship in Chicago. Ghosal defeated France’s Lucas Serme 13-11 11-6 11-8 in his second round match. However, Joshna suffered a shock defeat against Hong Kong’s Joey Chan (10-12 7-11 7-11) in the second round.

New Zealand No. 2 in ICC Test team rankings
New Zealand trumped South Africa to become the No. 2 on the ICC Test team rankings in the latest update. Kane Williamson’s men now have 107 points, behind India’s 116 and ahead of South Africa’s 105. New Zealand have benefitted in the rankings owing to South Africa's 0-2 defeat to Sri Lanka at home.

AIBA approves religiously respectful women’s uniform
The international boxing association (AIBA) said it has approved new uniforms for female boxers to wear for religious reasons. AIBA says “hijabs and full body form-fitting uniforms” have been designed “that do not compromise the competition and therefore the health of the boxers”. — Agencies
