Murray world No. 2

Novak Djokovic held on to his place as world No. 1 in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) singles rankings released on Monday, while Scottish Andy Murray advanced to the second spot after winning the Italian Open title in Rome.

Murray now has 8,435 points, while third-placed Roger Federer got 7,015.

Polish Agnieszka Radwanska rose to the second place displacing German Angelique Kerber who was relegated to the third position. Garbine Muguruza of Spain bagged the fourth place. Serena Williams continues to lead the rankings with 9.030 points.

Bopanna  world No. 11, Paes back in top-50

Rohan Bopanna raised hopes of getting a direct entry into the Rio Olympics as he rose by two rungs to be 11th. A top-10 player has the luxury of choosing his partner for the doubles competition at the Games. Leander Paes was back in top-50 with a jump of four places. Sania Mirza continued to be world No. 1 in doubles. — Agencies
