Ronaldinho scored the first goal off a header after a pass from Diego Costa to take his side 1-0 ahead in the second minute of play. In the third minute, the Chennai side equalised through Hernan Crespo, who netted the ball in the right corner of goal.

Sanave Thomas and Rupesh Kumar notched up a lucky victory over compatriots V Diju and JBS Vidyadhar to win the +35 men’s doubles crown at the Manorama BWF World Senior Badminton Championships. Thomas and Kumar won the title after their opponents withdrew midway into the third game following a knee injury to Diju, trailing 21-12 17-21 9-7. Srikant Bakshi and Navdeep Singh had to be content with the silver medal in the +45 men’s doubles category after going down to the Thai pair of Chatchai Boonmee and Wittaya Panomchai 18-21 21-18 15-21.
