William Opoku Asiedu scored the solitary goal to guide Minerva Punjab FC to a 1-0 win over hosts Shillong Lajong FC in an intense I-League match here today.

In a fast-paced game, William scored in the 58th minute to continue Minerva Punjab FC’s fairytale run in the league.

Both teams started off on an offensive note, with Minerva Punjab taking a more aggressive approach. Minerva’s first attempt came in the fifth minute with Opoku getting past Lajong’s defence. However, his shot went wide.

The start of the second half had Minerva applying the pressure on the home side. The winner came as Chencho ran down the left flank, beating Novin Gurung with sheer pace, and fed Opoku who sent a magnificent shot into the back of the net.
