Sports meet concludes at GMC

The annual sports meet of Government Medical College concluded with senior faculty members and officials of the department of medical education and research attending the prize distribution ceremony on Wednesday. The event was presided over by Director Medical Education and Research Dr Avinish Kumar and Vice-Chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Dr Raj Bahadur.
Speaking on the occasion, GMC Principal Sujata Sharma vowed to strengthen the sports infrastructure in the college. She said from the next session infrastructure related to many new games would be created in the college. After completion of the student centre, they will enjoy indoor-games, she added.
Apart from competitions in various categories, fun games for faculty and ministerial staff were also held on the occasion. The three-day event had begun on April 29. The winners of various categories were given prizes by the dignitaries. Addressing the students, Dr Avinish Kumar said, “Sports are important part of human life.” He said sports activities help them cope up with the pressure of the medical field.
The others who played prominent role in organising the event included Dr Shiv Charan, medical superintendent, Dr karamjit Singh and Jaspreet Singh.
