125 turn up for cricket trials

As many as 125 budding cricketers turned up for the trials held by the Ludhiana District Cricket Association (LDCA) for the selection of bowlers and wicket-keepers at the Arya College for Boys here today.

The trials were organised following an advice by the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) to select 15 fast bowlers, five spinners and two wicket-keepers between the age of 17 to 20 years at six centers, including Ludhiana.

The selection panel, appointed by the PCA, included Punjab Ranji player Mahesh Inder, former international umpire Jasvir Singh and former IPL speedster Luv Abhlish. After the trials, Vinod Chitkara, honorary general secretary, LDCA, said 18 bowlers were chosen by the selectors today.
